Sourdough Discard Waffles

Quick, easy, delicious.

Few things are better than waffles and using up that discard is a must! This recipe uses 8 ounces of sourdough discard (it works with active starter, too!), so it’s a perfect recipe if you’re looking to use up a good bit of discard.

Makes 4 large waffles, 10 small waffles | Prep time: 5 minutes | Cook time: 3-4 minutes per waffle

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup flour

  • 2 tablespoons sugar or honey

  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 eggs

  • ½ cup whole milk

  • 8 ounces sourdough discard

  • 3 tablespoons melted butter

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Mix eggs, milk and sourdough starter discard in a medium sized mixing bowl.

  2. Add the dry ingredients, vanilla and melted butter and mix well until combined, batter should be thick. You can add a little milk or flour until you reach your desired consistency.

  3. Pour about ¼ cup into a small waffle maker, cook and enjoy!
